“It seems as if technology has taken away from our excitement of life, that it has destroyed the value of human effort and this scares me a lot hence I have always loved sports, netball in particular. This is because when I play, I feel alive and the feeling is addictive.
I just love netball with all of my heart.“I want to be counted amongst the best names in South African netball”.
These are the words of a young 18-year-old and boisterous Lebohang, who is currently studying towards her senior certificate at Sasolburg High.
She started playing Netball back in 2009 at Oliver Lodge Primary school and has since played in numerous tournaments. In 2015 in Bloemfontein, she qualified from the trials and played for Fezile Dabi District wherein she showed excellent form and then she pulled through to play for the Free State provincial team and then the SANS (South African Schools Netball) at Boksburg. Due to circumstances, she did not make it through to play for the National Team. Lebohang states poor sports development as within our townships as the reason for such despondency within the youth; not this only but, ironically the technology which has overtaken our daily lives.
It breeds laziness in some way. “It takes a great deal of self-control to be active when everyone else seems to focus on other things” she said. Loxion News would like to encourage all youth to participate in activities that build a healthy lifestyle.
The current age requires self-control and a strong will towards self-management as there are many emerging ailments and diseases. We acknowledge that many of our townships lack the necessary infrastructure to cater for proper sporting codes, however a jog in the morning or in the afternoon will help you a lot.
Let us maintain a healthy lifestyle as this would save us a lot of money.
