The Gauteng DA Provincial Leader, John Moodey MPL, has issued a statement detailing the DA’s intended march against Emfuleni Local Municipality Mayor, Simon Mofokeng.
Mofokeng was identified as the “sex-pest” by the DA saying they will lead a march against Emfuleni’s Mayor. Moodey said he will be joined by DA Vaal Regional Chair and Midvaal Executive Mayor, Bongani Baloyi, DA Gauteng Constituency Head: Emfuleni North, Kingsol Chabalala MPL and DA Emfuleni Caucus Chair, Cllr Dady Mollo.
The DA will also be joined by DASO VUT and DA Youth activists in calling for the removal of Simon Mofokeng as Mayor. DA says it does not only seek to expose Mofokeng’s sexual grooming allegations to the media, but also seek to highlight other service delivery failures, financial mismanagement and alleged corrupt and dodgy dealings in the municipality.
“We will march in solidarity with all victims of sexual abuse and violence across the province, especially those who have been robbed of their innocence and dignity.”
“Today marks 15 days since the ANC placed Mofokeng on “special leave” after he was accused of sexually grooming a 14-year-old girl. Emfuleni remains Mayor-less as the ANC continues to dither on this matter,” he added.
“The DA will be counting down each day Simon Mofokeng remains in his position as Mayor as the ANC refuses to fire the alleged “sex-pest”,” Moodey added.
The details of the march are as follows: Date: Tuesday, 14 November 2017 Time: 09:00, Venue: From Pasteur Boulevard, to the Emfuleni Local Municipality Buildings at 27 Frikkie Meyer Boulevard in Vanderbijlpark. – Loxion Reporter
