Midvaal Local Municipality has donated at least 40 wheelchairs and 20 crutches as part of its
commitment to community welfare and supporting individuals with mobility challenges.
The donation was spearheaded by the Executive Mayor, Alderman Peter Teixeira and
Members of the Midvaal Mayoral Committee.
This initiative aligns with the municipality’s mission of being a people-centred and
compassionate institution.
The Executive Mayor made the following remarks: “Our priority is to uplift as many of our
residents as possible, using programs such as this. We hope today’s donation will alleviate
some of the challenges faced by those living with mobility challenges.
We want to create a Midvaal that is accessible to all. We want to build a Midvaal that all our residents can proudly
call home.”
As Midvaal Municipality, we are of the view that local government has a responsibility to go
beyond delivering basic services. We must actively engage in social upliftment initiatives to
support the vulnerable in our communities.
By taking on a more comprehensive approach to governance, we can address not only the
immediate needs of our communities but also work towards fostering sustainable
development and improving the overall well-being of our residents.
Midvaal Municipality pledges to continue to do more with the limited resources we have to
support different groups in our community.
