A Back-to-School Initiative by Cell-C
Monday the 29th was a day of jubilation for Ratasechaba Primary School learners in Midvaal as they received a donation of 100 innovative desks courtesy of Cell C, Midesk, Midvaal & Sedibeng Municipalities.
In a small event organised by the Midvaal Municipality, the primary learners of Ratasechaba received school bags which can also be used as desks as part of the Back-to-School campaign by Cell-C.

The MiDesk is a groundbreaking wheelie schoolbag that serves as a portable desk and transforms into a chair, equipped with a solar light and USB charging portal. This innovative solution provides children with a versatile tool for learning, seamlessly transitioning between home and school environments.
The MiDesk not only ensures that students have a comfortable chair and desk wherever they go but also integrates modern technology with its solar light and USB charging capabilities. This will have a positive impact on the lives of learners at Rasethjaba Primary School and go a long way in ensuring that children have access to quality education and can reach their full potential.

Cell C’s Managing Executive: Government Relations, Joshua Moela said, “We passionately believe that education is the key to a brighter future. Through this initiative, the learning experience for every child, regardless of their circumstances will be enhanced. MiDesks are a practical means to empower students, ensuring they have the tools necessary to excel in their academic journey. This collaborative effort reflects a shared vision of making education accessible and impactful.”
The Executive Mayor of Sedibeng District Municipality, Lerato Maloka said she was very excited to have been part of the handover that will ensure that the school kids will be able to take their lessons at home with the help of the desks. “I am glad that Midvaal Mayor identified a very needy school and with these private-public partnerships, we can indeed achieve a lot. Thanks to Cell-C and Midesk for considering the kids in Vaal.”

Midvaal Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Peter Teixeria said they welcome the initiative by Cell-C and Midesk to ensure that farm-based schools are also considered in such projects. “We hope that such private and public partnerships will continue growing and be rolled out to other schools so that other destitute kids can also benefit.”
Principal of Ratasechaba Primary Farm School, Kgoitsemang Mokele said their school is located in the Midvaal farms with 483 learners and that she was excited to have received such a donation because they already had a shortage of furniture.
“We are so grateful to have been considered in such an initiative and it will go a long way in ensuring that our kids do get the opportunity to learn in a conducive environment,” She added. – By Fanelo Maseko
