Ekurhuleni, Gauteng – Collaboration between government, business, and funding institutions has been identified as a critical driver of job creation and economic growth in South Africa, following discussions at the FASA National Conference & Expo 2026.
The event, hosted at the Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre, brought together key stakeholders in the franchising sector under the theme “Building the South African Economy Through Franchising.”

Organised by the Franchise Association of South Africa, the conference attracted franchisors, entrepreneurs, SMMEs, investors, policymakers, and skills development bodies.
FASA CEO Freddy Makgatho emphasised that franchising remains one of the most effective models for building sustainable businesses and expanding economic participation.
“Our goal is to ensure that more entrepreneurs, including youth, women and township businesses, can access and succeed in the sector,” he said.
