Sebokeng has given rise to another impressive Amapiano musician named Maversaci, who recently dropped a hit single featuring Boni titled “Ithemba.” The track, currently boasting over 100K streams on digital platforms, was both produced and composed by Maversaci, with Boni contributing the lyrics.
Maversaci is part of the Amapiano duo Lavas&Maversaci, based in Sebokeng, solidifying their status as one of the most promising up-and-coming acts from the Vaal region. The duo, consisting of Vusi Maseko (Maversaci) and Ntando Mnguni (Lavas), initially gained attention with the release of their hit single “Mahlalela” in April 2020, available on all digital platforms.
“We wanted to test the market’s readiness for our music, and we were not disappointed,” expressed Maversaci, recalling the initial success of “Mahlalela.” This prompted them to work on their recently released EP under the banner of Warfare, though the national lockdown due to Covid-19 caused delays.
Despite his solo project, Maversaci emphasizes that he hasn’t abandoned the group but wanted to showcase another aspect of his musical talent by independently composing and producing tracks. “I had to prove to myself that I can actually do this, you know,” he added.
Maversaci’s latest track, “Ithemba,” addresses themes of hopelessness, desperation, suicide, the hunger for success, and mental health issues among the youth. “Ithemba” serves as a motivational anthem, encouraging young people not to lose hope in the face of numerous challenges.
“In recent years, we’ve witnessed many young people turning to drugs or resorting to suicide due to overwhelming hopelessness. I want to motivate them to never lose hope but to keep pushing until something happens,” stated Maversaci. The single is currently available on all digital stores, gaining significant traction with over 100K streams.
